It’s run annually for forestry and silvicultural managers, as well as remote sensing, GIS and mapping specialists. Our #forestAI can also detect and quantify harvest residues that are left on the field. This helps to assess the quality of the harvesting contractors and can even give you a precise estimate of the amount of timber and biomass lost during harvesting.

Another impressive result of the SKYLAB #forestAI seedling counter in #Brazil. Our technology analysed hundreds of hectares for one of the largest forestry companies. In addition to monitoring seedling survival, we calculated the crown diameter of each seedling and produced precise weed and density maps that show the uniformity of growth across the stand. A complete canopy or tree height model, derived from laserscanning (LiDAR) or Photogrammetry is used to derive mean and top heights per stand, and even shows nuanced variations in height across stands and the entire estate. Through the partnership with Grupo Index, three SKYLAB products will be offered in Brazil: Seedling and Tree Counting, Survival Analysis and Digital Forester. The first service automatically counts seedlings on the property, differentiating them from weeds, and tracks the trees for life until harvest.
